Training Disruptions

May 25, 2008 @ 06:31 pm by wayne

Don’t beat yourself up mentally if your diet and training aren’t going exactly as planned. Sometimes you need a rest from training or your dietary pattern, sometimes life throws you a hurdle. Either way, you need to roll with the punches. If you need a break from training - take half a week or a week off, have a cheat meal, enjoy it and then look at getting your eating pattern back on line and do whatever you need to do about any hurdle that is thrown your way. When you have gone through the disruption, enjoy your accomplishment and go for it.

The body’s response to this type of training is to increase the metabolism and fat burning during and after exercise. It is important to maintain lean muscle tissue, so you should be training relatively heavy and by using supersets and circuits you can be more time efficient with your training.

Cat Naps and Memory

May 10, 2008 @ 10:43 am by wayne

If you are learning from notes or a book and then have a nap, research suggests that you will retain the material better. This appears to work only if you have learnt the material well before the nap. So you still need to actually do the study before you have your nap.
