When Life Takes Control

It is very easy to let all the things happening in your life to take control of you instead of the other way around. Instead of looking after the important things like your health and fitness, you race everywhere trying to do everything and not actually accomplishing what you want to. Every so often, it is important to slow down, get your bearings, make any adjustments necessary and then move forward toward your goals.

What Supplements Should You Use?

There are a number of supplements that I use that I believe are must haves if you are training hard and wanting to be fit, healthy and improve you body composition.

Currently these are the supplements in my kitchen.
Protein Powder - I have three different powders in my kitchen. One that I use for meal replacements, one for my workout drink and and another for post training.
Multi-purpose vitamin and mineral tablet - one a day as dietary insurance
Fish Oil
I am also using Creatine in my workout drink.

Yoga and the Elderly

A recent study has shown that specific yoga programs, in this case a nine-week Iyengar yoga course designed specifically for senior citizens may be able to assist older people in improving balance and stability. Given the number of older adults that suffer a fall each year, this is an interesting result. The study showed that the participants had improved muscle strength in the lower legs, a faster stride, increased flexibility in the legs, improved single-leg stance and more confidence in walking and balance.

Lose Fat and Build Muscle

If you want to “look good naked” this one is for you. Chad Waterbury is one of the best no-nonsense trainers out there. He10/10 transformation combines a solid academic background with real world experience in increasing athletic performance and improving body composition. I have just been reading Chad’s 10/10 Transformation. In it he gives you a 12 week training and nutrition program which is designed to help you to lose 10lb (4.5kg) of fat and gain 10lb of muscle.

The program is designed around 4 x 3 week phases. These phases alternate between having a fat loss and a muscle gain focus.

The eating plan is simple, logical and appears to be well designed. The training part of the program is time efficient, has plenty of variation and like Chad’s other programs it will deliver results.

If you are expecting a huge book with hundreds of pages(that you may or may not read,) you will be disappointed. What you get is a 30 page no filler/no BS program that sets out to help you look better by reducing your fat by 10lbs and increasing your muscle the same amount. If you want these sorts of results, definitely check the book out. It is a downloadable pdf file, so you can have on your computer in minutes.
