Fat Loss Intervals

Sep 07, 2008 @ 05:42 pm by wayne

Do you want to drop some bodyfat and are already doing your metabolic resistance training, try this short HIIT session either after your resistance training or on the following day.

Pick a piece of cardio equipment and do an easy warm-up for 2-5 minutes. After you are warm, go “hell for leather” for 10 seconds, then go easy for 50 seconds and repeat the 10 seconds hard/50 seconds easy for 8-15 reps. Choose your rep number based on your fitness level - start low and build up. warm dpwn for a few minutes after you are finished.

I find this system fast and enjoyable (within reason) and it is a great metabolic training approach.

Dr John Berardi’s Nutrition Tips

Aug 20, 2008 @ 09:36 pm by wayne

Tip #4
Revving Up Metabolism
by Dr. John Berardi

I recommend more calories than most do. That’s because there’s no such thing as a stagnant metabolic set-point. Instead, metabolism chases intake. So, if you want a bigger metabolism, you need a bigger food intake. And if you’re worried about fat gain with this approach, just use outcome-based decision making and adjust energy (calorie) intake every two weeks based on your results. Not much ‘damage’ can take place in only two weeks. So if you end up boosting your metabolism, you’ll be thanking me eternally. And if it turns out you’re consuming too much, you can just adjust down.

Fat Loss Training Hints

May 14, 2008 @ 06:10 pm by wayne

For fat loss, you should be focusing on resistance training and high intensity interval training. The body’s response to this type of training is to increase the metabolism and fat burning during and after exercise. It is important to maintain lean muscle tissue, so you should be training relatively heavy and by using supersets and circuits you can be more time efficient with your training.

Fat Loss At Warp Speed

May 07, 2008 @ 05:40 pm by wayne

If you want to loose fat quickly, you should check out the Warp Speed Fat Loss system that was released today. It appears to be “the” nutrition and training system, if you want to rip off the bodyfat in a hurry, while maintaining your muscle mass and still being healthy. It is written by two guys that I really respect, Mike Roussell author of the Naked Nutrition Guide and Alwyn Cosgrove author of the Afterburn fat loss system and co-author of The New Rules Of Lifting. One of the advantages of the system is that it is based on real world results. The 28 day program is designed to strip bodyfat quickly with some of the people testing the system loosing as much as 28lb (almost 13 kg) with the program.

If you want to drop some bodyfat quickly, you should check this one out. If you hurry there are some first come, first served bonuses that sweeten the deal.

Nutrition Research Notes

May 05, 2008 @ 05:36 am by wayne

Here are some brief notes on some of the recent research in the field of nutrition and health.

This is not very surprising but supplementation of soluble dietary fibre may increase weight loss by boosting satiety. It also appears to have beneficial effects for cardiovascular health.

Green tea may help counter the oxidative effects of resistance training.

Eating tomato paste may protect against sunburn and sun-induced skin ageing. Lycopene is thought to be the active agent.

Curcumin, the natural pigment that gives turmeric its distinctive yellow colour, could have benefits for diabetics.
